Holiday Foods Your Teeth Will Love

  • November 1, 2019

By Snyder Orthodontics:

Thanksgiving is one of our favorite holidays! Who doesn’t love a day that involves good holiday foods, family and friends? For most, it is a day where “diets” go out the window as we celebrate what we are thankful for. Your teeth and smile should definitely be on that list!

Snyder Orthodontics wants to encourage you to still keep your oral health in mind during the holiday season. So when you’re preparing your Thanksgiving meal, make sure you include holiday foods that are nutritious and beneficial for your teeth and gums. Luckily, a traditional Thanksgiving Day meal incorporates many vitamins and minerals that are necessary for better oral health.

Turkey – The highest amount of phosphorus is found in turkey, which is important for tooth development and rebuilding of tooth enamel.

Sweet Potatoes – Potatoes are a great source of vitamins with a proper balance of nutrients.

Vegetables – A lot of green and winter season vegetables are rich in vitamins A and C, which help prevent bleeding gums and can protect against cancer.

Cranberries – Cranberries are rich in flavor and antioxidants that can hinder bacteria from sticking to the teeth and creating dental plaque.

Pumpkin Pies – Pumpkins are a great source of minerals like copper, calcium and phosphorus, which helps protect gums.

Snyder Orthodontics wishes everyone a very happy and healthy Thanksgiving with family and friends. We are pleased to provide individualized, caring service because we know that every person and every smile is unique. If you are interested in a beautiful healthy smile this holiday season and would like to know if you are a candidate for orthodontic treatment, please request a complimentary consultation today.
